The Dinosaur Explorers Events are held at the Dinosaur Expedition Centre, with Fossil Hunts held around the fossil-rich beaches of the Isle of Wight.
Dinosaur Explorers events are suitable for children aged 5 - 15 years, however all children must be supervised by a guardian at all times. Guardians are actively encouraged to stay and join in!
Free parking and toilets are available at the Dinosaur Expeditions Centre, and the centre is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, however, unfortunately, there are no refreshment facilities available so please bring along drinks and snacks.
Young Volunteers aged 16 - 18 years are actively welcome to help organise session events or to Volunteer at the Dinosaur Expedition Centre.

ANIMATION EDITING

Following on from the amazing last Explorers' monthly event 'How Did Dinosaurs Sound' where we captured sounds of ducks and geese, created 'Creature Comforts Style, Voice Over' Interviews and a dynamic Animation directed by Director Bill Bristow, there's now lots of footage and audio to edit!

So Explorers, pop in over the half term if you would like to help edit your group animation to synchronise your 'dino sounds' and 'voice overs' with your dinosaur characters to complete your Creature Comforts Style animation!

Using free online software, your mobile phone and a drop of imagination we'll capture and recreate dinosaur sounds to bring them back to life!

Become a Palaeo Artist ...
​
Visually recreate how dinosaurs would have looked by using 3D computer design aided (CAD) online software or traditional 3D Card or Clay models.
Palaeontologists + Movie Makers use Palaeo Art to interpret fossils + dinosaurs. Pick up some new skills using Palaeo Art techniques and technology!

Ever wondered why... our island is here, how it formed, or will it still exist in the future?

Become a Citizen Scientist and Explore the geological history of the island and Capture the Isle of Wight's Geology in a Jar.

Bring a drink and/or snack to sustain your travel back in time... we'll provide the jars or bring along your own to fill up with geological time zones.
​
Design your own labels to document your time piece!

DINO FOOT CAST SURVEY

Become a Palaeontologist and Have a Go at a Palaeontological Dinosaur Foot Cast Survey! Hunt for Dinosaur Bones and many other interesting creatures from past and present on this guided Dinosaur Hunt at Compton Beach.

DINO WALK OF DISCOVERY!

Citizen Science in Action: Using the data we gathered last month we will analyse the data from the survey to determine how big and heavy the dinosaurs that left the foot casts were!
​
We'll also be identifying and labelling any fossils you found during your
'Dino Walk of Discovery' or on your own fossil hunts to make them ready for your home collection. Plenty of guidance on how best to store and display your fossil discoveries!
​
