POA + Isobel Centre

Citizen Science Animations

In conjunction with the POA Learning and the Isobel Centre on Pan - Newport - Isle of Wight, we ran Citizen Science Workshops throughout the summer holidays (AUG19).  Here are a selection of animations that were created by young and older animators using Aardman Studios 'Animate It!  ICT package' along with our portable Green Screen Animation Studio...

During the Citizen Science workshops a group of young animators helped to brainstorm ideas on how to create an animation of a 'Plastic Wave or Tide' in order for it to be incorporated in to the animation movie 'The Great Dinosaur Eggsplorer' which is currently being produced ready to be entered into the 'INTO FILM' competition in December 2019.  Here are their ideas...

'Sonny', a young animator and now 'voice over Artist', provides the voice over for a 'toad' he found in his garden.  Toad was brought into a Citizen Science workshop where we explored garden habitat enhancement and food sources of toads.  Whilst Toad was with us, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to create a 'Creature Comforts' style animation, with Sonny as the voice over, feeding back his experiences of being an animator and how to stop plastic in the sea...from a toad's perspective!

Sophie created her own fabric turtle character model at home, embellished with her own inspirational quotation.  During the Citizen Science session Sophie showed her turtle model to everyone and then animated it by learning how to use the Animation Studio and IT software 'Animate It!'.  Using editing techniques, Sophie created her finished production for all to enjoy!...
